FAQ – Laser and IPL Hair Removal

Hi guys and girls

I have been getting a few questions lately and thought I should write up a quick post to share some common questions and concerns people have about home hair removal:

1. How many treatments will I need for laser hair removal?

Just remember that permanent hair removal is based on targeting hair follicles. Hair follicles all grow at different rates and for different people. There is not one standard ‘treatment’ for laser hair removal. The number of treatments can vary alot between people due to different hair growth stages, different hair colours and different skin colours. However, the average number of treatments for laser hair removal can be between 6-8 for each body part.

2. Is laser hair removal safe?

Yes, all of the machines that I recommend on my site, safelaseripl.com have been FDA cleared and approved as safe hair removal devices to use in your own home. It is important to follow each machines instructions and to ensure that you follow the procedures and preparation for laser hair removal to avoid any side effects or injuries that could be sustained during the treatment.

3. What skin colors can use laser hair removal?

These days all skin colors and hair colors can be treated using laser hair removal machines. The technology has developed so far now that even people with dark skin and dark hair can use laser and IPL hair removal to remove unwanted body hair. Therefore, if you are Indian, Italian, Greek or any nationality that tends to have darker skin tones and dark hair, laser hair removal machines are safe to use.

4. What is the optimum combination to get the best results from laser?

The optimum results from permanent hair removal whether it being laser or IPL is those people with dark hair and light skin.

5. What is the most popular area of the body for laser hair removal?

There is not real ‘popular’ or ‘safest’ area to use hair removal machines as they are safe and effective for all body parts. From my personal experience, the legs and bikini areas are the most popular as they seem to be the first area most people use home hair removal machines to remove unwanted body hair from first.

6. Are home hair removal machines cost effective?

I can put it more simply, yes! You are forking out between $400-$600 depending on the type of machine that you buy, however, compared to salon prices which can vary between $80-$200 per treatment, you save yourself thousands in permanent hair removal. Plus, the technology used for home hair removal machines is so up to date, the home hair removal devices are yielding nearly the same hair removal results. As a beauty therapist, this is the biggest beauty advice that I can give on this site; investing in a home hair removal machine is not only cost effective but actually work at removing body hair permanently. Check out my recent post on what are the best home hair removal machines to buy.

Please contact me if you have any other questions. I will be happy to answer them and add them to my FAQ.

  3. Thank you for this information. I’ve been thinking a lot about laser hair removal. I just get so sick of shaving all the time. It would be really great to undergo a procedure that removes the hair permanently.

  4. Thank you so much for this information!!
I been thinking for so long to do laser depilation but never did because the salons are so expensive and with the home machines you never know if they really work or not but after seeing your website i decide that i am going to buy the Tria machine :)
I have only one question, in their website they say that you cannot use in your genitals because its a very sensitive area but if you use it on the lower setting its ok? I asking this because i want to remove all the hair ‘in there’ and i dont want to buy the machine and after have to go to a salon to do my ‘private areas’ loool

    • Hi Claudia
I know exactly what your talking about…. Yes you are correct, the manufacturers for all machines have not ‘approved’ the machine to use on the genitals as these are indeed, sensitive, areas of the body. However, most women still use the machines down there, me included. You just need to use on the lowest setting and do a test run, also don’t get inpatient and go to a higher setting even after numerous treatments, be patient! At the end of the day, you need to assess how it goes for you and decide whether it is ok for you to use down there. Kind Regards, Gabby

  5. I have indian skin as I belong to india itself and I have ingrown hair problem. So which machine is suitable for hard hair growth??

    • Hi Arzoo, if you have dark Indian skin I would suggest you use the Tanda machine because every other machine is not effective on darker skin colors.

      • Hi Gabby where can i buy tria in Australia i tried it on Amazon it says sorry we can’t deliver the address you have provided! I live in Sydney!
        Thanks

      • Hi Sofia. Sure I can help you with that :) Are you still interested? I will send you an email directly so keep an eye out for it in your inbox. Regards, Gabby

  6. u would said about the home machine has less power because of safety reason, so does the hair regrowth again in home products.

    • Hi Aranza
Yes they have less power, but because you are not paying hundreds of dollars per session, you can use the machine every 2 weeks at home. You will do more treatments overall which is expected, but you will have no more hair growth. The older products, the process is longer but still, after repeated sessions, it is permanent hair removal. So no, you will not have hair regrowth at all.
      Regards, Gabby

  8. hey hi , i am 27 years old having pcods since last 8 years. i have an hormonal imbalance because of which i have thick hair growth in chin area and moderate on upper lips. I have done 3-4 lazer sessions but in vain. i now have to do waxing regularly at an interval of 10-15 days . i have dark skin color.please help which hair removal machine should i go for ? thanks

    • Hi Pallavi
I would try and get your pcos under control first and foremost. I would really try and do all the research you can to try and get your hormones stabilized. I suggest this because the machines will work to help stunt your hair growth but if your hormones are very imbalanced, the machines will only work to a certain point.
In saying this, I would still buy a machine, I am just trying help you out in order to get your pcos/hormone imbalance sorted :)
If you have quite dark skin, I would suggest this machine for you as it’s the only machine safe for dark skin.
      Regards
      Gabby
